Kolobags At the American Film Market

Every year hundreds of producers, directors, celebs, and the folks that fund their productions descend upon Los Angeles for the American Film Market. We've done Cannes so we thought we'd check out an event or two at the AFM. It's more understated week than Cannes, but there are still plenty of parties.

We decided to hang with Bold Films' party, which was one of the events of the week. Our tucano cobra horizontal limit laptop messenger made a gift that was envied by all. Celebs such as Haley Bennett (pictured, starring in Bold Films' THE HOLE), Jason Patrick, Jason Ritter, and James Woods all stopped by to grab one filled with all kinds of goodies like Croc shoes with fuzzy insides, Dove chocolates, and Sonya Dakar Omega 3 Repair oil. Wokcano in Santa Monica made a great spot for the event, with the open air patio, a great d.j., and an Asian flair to the food.

Laptop Case Choices for Bargain Hunters

OK, so the economy is the top of everyone's mind. We continue to see television features, magazine articles, and blog postings on ways to save money. There in one certain thing: you don’t want to cut corners on the safety of your laptop. You likely spent a pretty penny when you bought your laptop, and the data you store is truly priceless.

Here are a couple of thoughts on how to keep within a lower budget:
1) Less expensive doesn’t mean it doesn’t work well. There are an assortment of laptop messengers, laptop backpacks, and stylish laptop briefcases that are bargain priced at less than $50. Just be sure to look for a laptop bag that has the proper padding to protect your computer and that is made of durable materials.
2) Use a laptop sleeve. Maybe you already have a ton of fashionable totes or handbags that are large enough to fit a laptop. All you need is a laptop sleeve that will add padding for protection. This is a great solution if you love to switch your computer bags with your outfit. And, it allows you to recycle the great fashion accessories that you already own.

Technology Fashion For Obama - Senator Obama, That Is

Blogs and the tabloid news have been full of comments on Michelle Obama's fashion sense. But, what can we say for the candidate Obama? We often hear presidential, but if you break that down to fashion terms, we think that translates to classic, conservative, and clean lined. Matching that look to a laptop bag isn't too hard for us to do.

Skip the backpacks, messenger bags and other non-traditional silhouettes. Our style advice to Senator Obama is to stick with a classic laptop brief, like aaron irvin's double gusset flap laptop case. While this comes in burnt sienna, we recommend that Senator Obama stick with black for a more presidential look. aaron irvin double gusset flap laptop case Another stunning selection suitable for Capitol Hill is mcklein's harrison partners laptop briefcase. The more structured look is even sharper because of the full grain, oil tanned leather of which it is made. Perfect in Washington is the secure key lock to keep the wrong folks out when the Secret Service is not looking.

As a side note, take a look at the Runway to Change section of the Obama campaign store. You can't say that he does not have some care for fashion, since his team has tagged the likes of designers Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Juicy Couture, and Diane von Furstenburg to create fashion for his campaign.

What Laptop Bag Matches Sarah Palin's Shoes?

sarah palin's shoes

This is by no means meant to be a politically charged blog. But, at the risk of mentioning anything political, we have to ask if you saw Sarah Palin's shoes at her acceptance speech? Stunning red peep toe pumps in a patent leather jumped out to me on television. (Is that shallow for a first impression of a vice presidential acceptance speech?)

metrochic paris laptop bag We're not sure if Madame Palin has considered a laptop bag to match her sharp shoes, but we have a few in mind. One that jumps out immediately is metrochic's paris laptop bag in patent leather: a perfect match with both the color and the hardware elements. For a more traditional look, mcklein lake forest laptop bag in red (of course) will work for carrying a laptop and important papers to the Hill. When headed on the road, rimowa's wheeled laptop case in salsa matte adds a splash of color to what is otherwise a very functional, hard sided wheeled case, fully equiped with a TSA friendly lock.

How Do I Know if a Laptop Bag Fits?

laptop size

It seems simple enough: how do you measure a laptop computer to see if it fits in a specific laptop bag? It doesn't make sense when you see that 14" or 17" size and then neither the length nor the width is equal to that number. Still scratching your head? Here's how it works.

The measurement that all laptop manufacturers use is the diagonal of the screen. Check out the above image. The diagonal is the measurement that goes from the upper corner to the opposite lower corner. Now that you've revisited high school geometry, how does that relate to knowing if your laptop fits in a specific laptop bag?

Here's the big news: it is a guide, but every laptop in a specific size has different dimensions because of the design of the plastic and screen dimensions. So, if you want to know if your laptop will really fit in that laptop sleeve, you need to measure the length, the width and the depth, just like a box, and then compare those measurements to the size of the bag. Maybe now it makes sense why a 15.4" Mac fits different bags than a 15.4" Dell or a 15.4" Toshiba.
